Gunditjmara clans have been caring for country for 1000s of years whilst walking through the changing landscapes on the Great South West Walk Woorowarook Mirring <\/em>(forest country), the waters of the Pareetj Mirring <\/em>(freshwater country), the Bocara Woorowarook Mirring <\/em>(forest river country) to the Nyamat Mirring <\/em>(sea country). Walkers should follow diversion signage around this section.<\/span><\/strong><\/p> NO. 18 – BRIDGEWATER LAKES AND BLACKS BEACH – caution is advised as high tides have affected the beach access point.<\/strong><\/span><\/p> EXTREME CAUTION @ SWAN LAKE – Saturday 24th February. Portland Dune Buggy Club is holding an event with buggies and cars crossing the walking track at speed. Bunting will block access – wait for an official to advise when it is safe to cross and be alert at all times.<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/p> Walker’s overnight campsites are located every 10-20 kilometres along the walk. Fees and bookings are now required for the designated GSWW campsites. All have pit toilets on site.<\/p> Firewood is very scarce along the coast, so a gas or fuel stove should be carried.<\/p> Campsite Logbooks<\/span>: All walkers are asked to fill out the logbook located in each campsite shelter as they pass through.\u00a0 This is an important safety measure and assists us to locate walkers in an emergency.
